What is a reasonable rate for the tooth fairy? |
I asked a previous question and in the details explained about a child from my son's school getting $5 for a tooth. Someone said that was ridiculous so now I'm wondering what is a reasonable rate. I thought $5 was fair. When I was little I got a dollar for each tooth. Until one night my mom and dad put $50 bill under my pillow. When I got up the next morning they asked if the toothfairy brought me my dollar and I told them it was a big dollar and looked different. When I showed them they realized what they did and I learned that day there was no toothfairy. LOL!!! That is hilarious. I love it. You are very welcome. :) Report Abuse I think 4 quarters is good I gave my kid a $5 bill for her first lost tooth only because I'd rather her buy a toy or fancy hair ribbons, ect instead of candy (which about all you could buy for a dollar). I always got a nice shiny silver dollar, the kid lost a tooth it shouldn't be so much money for a lost tooth. I was excited about the dollar. I think $5-$10. Depending on the kids age. tooth fairy, Santa, Easter bunny, on and on, Do you remember when you figured out that the one person you trusted with everything,,,,,,, was lying? wow, i got a buck. but with inflation, i guess thats alright. depending on the financial sitituation i would go and give my child 5.00 a tooth if i had it to give it to him depending on his age to.... (unlike full house episode steph gets 20.00 from the tooth fairy) ask her she has a going rate of 50 1st tooth gold dollar! i always got $1.00 therefore my kids do to. i think $5 is fair for today's children Depends on how money's treated in your house. My kids like anything--we've even resorted to a pack of socks once. My daughter recently lost her first tooth and the debate was on. I thought a quarter was fine. She's only 5. My husband said $10 and my parents agreed with him. His parents said $5. I gave her $1 and thought it was too much. The next morning when she saw the dollar she came running in and said the tooth fairy must really love her. When I asked why she said she got a WHOLE DOLLAR and "Arthur" only got a quarter for his!!! Does your son watch "Arthur" on PBS? I think you should pay whatever you feel is fair and you can afford to do many times in the future. The toothfairy brings a dollar for a tooth in our house, Unless of course it was a tooth with a filling, then they are only worth .25. But that is to get them to brush better and not make mommy have to pay the dentist. Well, I always gave $1 per tooth. Many of my friends gave nothing to their children. I guess it depends on your financial situation. There is no tooth fairy! Come to reality already..my gosh! do u still believe in Santa???LOL I think $5 is pretty steep! I mean think about how many teeth they're going to loose at $5 a pop that's a lot of money. We do $1 either in quarters or a bill. The most we have done is $3, but she lost two teeth on the same day. We also tell our children the tooth fairy won't leave money for teeth with cavities to make sure they brush good. My kids get $5 a pop. My husband says that's too much, but really, what can you buy with a couple of quarters these days? Also, kids only have so many teeth to lose. Once they're gone, so it the tooth fairy. Let them enjoy it while they can. |
