Whatever you do, DON'T USE PICKUP LINES, they are cheesy and insincere. The best way to start is by making good extended eye contact accompanied by a smile. When you approach her, use good posture and behave with confidence. The best thing to start the conversation would be: "Hi, my name is _____." Keep the conversation casual, don't ask really personal questions and don't be nosy, you don't want her to think that you are just trying to hookup, you want to ask the 'get to know you' questions, she wants to feel like you are trying to get to know her, be confident but not arrogant, and yes, there is a difference. Be nice, teasing actually is a good form of flirting but keep it light, don't insult her, be interested in her, don't get clingy though, don't down talk yourself either even if you are joking, it just isn't attractive, don't be a jerk. It depends on how she looks- agressive, shy, friendly? You could try a quiet approach, or look at her really intensely for a few seconds if you have eye contact. Don't act like a stalker, just like you can't take your eyes off of her. Then, when she looks away, walk up to her and say hi. If she's surrounded by friends, try saying something along the lines of "You're beautiful" or whatever (only if she's a stranger or if you're okay with being in a potentially suicidal situation). Act cool and don't stress.
