How many years should you date before getting married? And what is the best age to do it?

I am 20, and have been with my love, (21) for 2 yrs. I am no where close to getting married, we're waiting until after college for both of us. But everyone i tell says 2 years is a long time to be in a relationship these days. But it doesn't feel that long. What is the norm these days of dating until marriage?

My wife and I did the same during college and got married after. We have been together for 16 married for 12. She is my best friend and I do not regret being with her for one day. Remember by all accounts the closer you are before marriage you will not go through the getting adjusted phase after. And you will more likely get past the 7 year itch without a hitch.

i have been dating my ex for 4 years and we were to get married after college also but we broke up right after we got graduated!

then after a while i fill in love with another guy who i never met, actually we me through chatting on msn and we decided to meet after 2 months of chatting, he lived ijn another country, we are now engaged!

I honestly don't believe there is an answer to this. I say this because my parents got married due to my mother accidentally getting pregnant. They were 18 & 19 yrs old and have now been together for 30 years! I was with my ex-husband for less than a year before getting engaged and married within 2 1/2 years and he left before our first wedding anniversary. I was 24 and he was 30 when we married. It was his second marriage too. Also, you might want to ask yourselves, what is the need of getting married? Will it actually change anything, other than getting to call each other husband and wife??

I would say it takes about 5 - 7 years to date before getting married. It takes time to get to know your partner. 2 years is to short know him or 2b getting married.

The age you should get married is from 25years.

It all depends on the people involved. For me my love we have been together for 10 months and living together for 3 months. If he proposed I would say yes. But we would have a long engagement about a year.

I am 24 and got married when I was 22. We got married after 8 months of dating. If it is the right person then you should get married when you are ready. The only thing I would have done differently is finish school. I think you are on the right track.
I don't think the length of time is what is most important. I would consider the fact if you are committed to each other and to a life long relationship. I am happy for you and wish you the best of luck.

i would say about 4-5, they usually say the relationship feels the most strain and testing at the 2 year mark so definately more than 2
