What does it mean if there's green spots inside my garlic? |
Does it mean it's not ripe, or that it's rotten, or what? It means its old..Remove the green and use it..it won`t kill you The green spots are sprouts from the garlic. While they're not dangerous if you eat them, the garlic develops a funky taste if the sprouts get big enough. If its soft its rotten. And if you have a lot of spots thats mold. But if you only have a couple cut them out and then eat the garlic as soon as you can. If the whole piece of garlic is light green its not ripe. I guess it's fungus...time to throw it away. I think it's probably old the green spots are usually where the head of garlic is sprouting Well, duh, what do you think? The green spots are retsin, which is good because it counteracts the odor of the garlic. It's shoots, just peel it out and it's good. |
