How to make southern style sweet tea?

I used to live in NC and drink it all of the time, but never made it myself. Now I live in Wisconsin and you can't get it from any restaurants or anything. How do I make it at home? I have Luzianne tea bags because that is what my mom used.

Are they the large size tea bags or small?

If they are large, place 3 (small use 8-10) in a pot of boiling water. Turn off the pot and let the tea steep for a few moments.

In a pitcher add 1 cup of sugar and the steeped tea (-the tea bags of course). Stir so that the sugar melts. Add more water to fill the pitcher. Stir and serve over ice.

I'm a Georgia girl living in a New England world that has no idea what real sweet tea tastes like.

you put water in the pot, when the water boils take it off the burner and put 4 small tea bags and cover with lid, after about 25 minutes, put cup of sugar in the pitcher and then put the tea in the pitcher then fill it up the rest of the way with water and there you have it!

Darlin', I use the el cheapo tea bags and it makes my tea just as good as the Luziannes! I use 4 "regular" tea bags and 2 "flavoured" tea bags. (I like Celestial Seasonings' "True Blueberry" and "Cranberry Apple Zinger") Everyone I know says I make "THE BEST" Iced tea.

Starting with cold water, I bring a small pot of water with a pinch of salt (to keep the tea from being cloudy and bitter) to a hard boil. Then, I drop in the tea bags, let boil 2 minutes and turn off the stove. I place 3/4 cup of sugar in a 1 gallon pitcher. While the tea is still hot, I pour it into the pitcher with the sugar. (I like lemon in my tea so I also add about a 1/3 cup of lemon juice.) Finish filling the pitcher with cold water.

Sugar is the key to great southern tea.

Just used a lot of sugar! and when the taste hits ya you'll know

if you have reg size teabags use 7 if you have family size use 3... heat in a med size pot about 1 quart of water to a boil. once the water boils turn it off and put the teabags in. let them steep for 30 minutes to an hour depending on how strong you like it. take a 2 quart pitcher out and put 1 cup of sugar in it then pour the hot steeped tea in and stirr, then add enough water to fill the pitcher up and stirr again. put it in the fridge to cool.

Just add a five gallon bucket of gravy to each pitcher of tea. Thank you very much.

(we love gravy in the south. YEE HAWWWWWWWWWW).

Bring a pot of water to a boil. Put five tea bags in the water and turn if off. Let it sit until it comes to room temp. An hour.

Put about a cup of sugar into your pitcher. Put the tea into the pitcher. Fill the remainder of pitcher with water. Stir.

Use a gallon pitcher.

I use the family size tea bags and I put them in a pot of water and wait for the water to boil. As soon as it starts to boil I remove the pot and let the tea stand for about 15 minutes, then pour it into the pitcher with just a little more then 1 cup of sugar. I then leave it on the counter for about 20 minutes to cool and its done. When my inlaws come down for a visit they bring their camper and I always have to have a pitcher of tea for my father in law to take out to the camper with him!!

i have a 3 gallon tea pictcher so you may have to use less thank I use but.........

you boil a pot ot water with 12 tea bags in it. as soon as it starts boiling you take it off the eye and let it sit for 20 minutes. then put 2 1/2 cups of sugar in you tea pitcher. once your tea has sat for long enough pour it in the pitcher with your sugar and stir well. then you put water in your pot with the tea bags and pour it into your tea pitcher. press the tea bags with the spoon while your filling the pot with water so you can get more flavor out. stir it all up and your tea is ready. put it in the refrigerator to get cold then serve the tea is always better the next day

southern style tea has no hot water. just open the tea bag and swallow the dried leaves straight.
