Is it bad to eat too many raw chillis?

What is a healthy level? Are there and long term health risks?

I'm from SE Asia and when you talk of chillies I conjure up images of two types of vegetables , one type red and the other green. These can be two to 4 inches long , sometimes fat and succulent and sometimes they are thinner or slimmer. To me , these chilli do not sting when eaten although many people disagree. I could blend a few dozen of these , add water and a touch of salt and black pepper and gulp it down in one go.

There is another wicked type., one to two inches long, slender and packs a wallop like a TKO by an earlier version of Mike Tyson. This chilli when broken and rubbed onto the tongue will immediately stimulate a copious flow of salivary juices in the mouth , cause tears to well in the eyes, drumbeats pound in the ears and cause profuse sweating from the head and face. Now, that is a chilli and I have been eating dozens of these during lunch or dinner for over 35 years. I even have chilli with cold beer.

I always feel that chilli stimulate all the various digestive juices from the mouth tol the small intestines and as a result the process of digestion is really thorough.. I also just love chilli, onion and garlic sandwiches.

Now, there are many in the world who just love chilli and some who say that as chillies are alkaline they help settle an acidic stomach.

There are NO health risks, For many , hot chilli isreally beneficial.

For beginners it takes some getting used to , but after a while.............hmmmmmm.

too any chillis can irritate your stomach and may cause cancer

If you enjoy the pleasures of oral sex, then yes.

Any spicy food if eaten in excess is bad for you. Great when you have a cold, because the spices warm you from the inside and help fight off the bug. It has been known to desolve the stomach lining causing ulcers and sometimes stomach and/or bowel cancer.

dont know about the health of the person eating them but cant be good for your friends who have to put up with the smell you would emit !!

Capsacin (the bit that makes it hot) can cause damage to your taste buds if you eat too many. (I grow my own chillis and have lost taste, but it always comes back). Only problem is the possible ring sting when they exit at the other end... :)

Anything in excess is going to be harmful over the medium or long term.

If you think you are overdoing it, or someone else comments that you are, then you probably should critically examine and evaluate your behaviour.

Ouchhhhhh!

Aaaaaargh!

Waterrrrrrrrrr!!!

I heard that eating chillis was supposed to kill off cancer cells

only your sphincter knows for sure.

Raw chillis taste awful. I think they are good for your health and doubt they could harm you in large amounts.

don't worry about it, you only live once.

They're good for the immune system, but inexcess could tear up your stomach lining, not to mention what the exit feels like
