Whats the best way to clean a sieve?

We don't have a dish washer. When I wash the sieve by hand I always seem to end up with some bits still left in it! Help!

I find that if I use a nail brush or dishwashing brush with the seive upsidedown under hot water from the tap, then bang the seive hard several times on the side of the sink. Don't do it late at night or you'll upset the neighbours. ;)

i use a washing up brush with thin bristles, helps poke through the holes!

Soak it for a while first in a strong washing up solution, then it may just rinse off

if its stained use brown bread to remove it.

i soak in hot water with kettle descaler if its quite bad. if real bad just throw away

We had this problem a few years ago and came up with this solution,
secure the sieve to the back of a Harrier jump jet with a piece of 12 strand galvanised signal wire, feed through the handle and the two resting spikes to ensure the sieve remains stable during flight.
Place a piece of cotton over the fuselage and tie the sieve firmly to the underbelly of the aircraft, this will hold the sieve in place until the aircraft is airborne and prevent damage, the cotton will break seconds after take off leaving the sieve in a horizontal position. The resulting airflow will blast any remaining debris from the mesh.
Please let us know the results of your experiment, when we tried it we didn麓t get our sieve back, and the Navy didn麓t get their Harrier back either!!!

Upside down. so its all going out the same way as it wen in. run water over it at high pressure, so turn tap on full, will knock all loose out!

Have a little scrub brush or a new toothbrush and use only for cleaning sieves, strainers or graters. Do not use for cleaning sink. Use a little dishwashing liquid, scrub, and you should have a nice clean sieve,

With a short, stiff washing up brush - running it under the taps at the same time. Leave it to soak if it doesn't come off first time.

Hold it under the tap & turn your tap on full power that should work.

wash it upside down with a stream of water and a brush, that way you are not trying to force the "stuff" through the seive.

Try using a scrub brush or some abrasive, like ajax.
