What is an appropriate amount to give as a college graduation gift for your child?

I am separated and my husband is not communicating with me, but I would like a general idea of what is an appropriate amount is to give for graduation. He wants enough to pay off his computer, but that would be too much.

Gifts are from the heart, so give what you can afford to.

Not everyone graduates from college and I think his request that you pay off his computer is reasonable. Try to find a way to assume the payments of his computer.

I would pay off his computer. A gift to your child can be whatever you wish to give, there is no limit either way. You decide.

jus give him the money for the comp...not everyday he graduates..

Talk with your child. Let him/her know of your finical situation and give what you can. Don't feel you like you have to meet an expectation.
