What is the maximum that it is possible to love somebody in a healthy way?

by a 'healthy way', i mean without being obsessed or letting them hurt you and just dealing with the pain

I agree with the post above.

I believe if you are obsessed with someone, you are not in love with them. Obsession, to me, would indicate that you have idealised them. When you are truly love someone and know them, you know they aren't perfect, only perfect for you.

If you try to only love just enough so you won't get hurt, you will not be sharing yourself completely with that other person...you will be holding back on being yourself and loving completely in a relationship. The issue here is trust. Is this person worthy of your trust? If not, you need to move on. If yes, you need to look at why you are afraid of loving them and work on that.

It goes with the territory.

When living with great rewards, one must sometimes expect and weather times of great pain.
