Isn鈥檛 the whole point of beauty in a woman to attract a mate?

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and that beholder for a straight woman is a man, pure and simple. And from what I can see no amount of campaigns for real beauty, or acceptance of real women鈥檚 bodies or whatever is going to make a difference for women in the arena of sexual competition. The attractive woman is going to win out by winning the most desirable men. That鈥檚 not to say that lesser beauties can鈥檛 win a decent man. But the truth is, if you don鈥檛 look decent enough you aren鈥檛 going to attract a man. Decent enough generally means not dowdy, decrepit looking, too fat or too skinny. Men aren鈥檛 interested in women who look too old, boring, or unhealthy. Men who can are going to shoot for the hottest woman they can get. So in the end, it doesn鈥檛 matter what women think is cute, it鈥檚 what the men think that counts. Do you agree?

I somewhat agree.I am very happily married.I still try to look as cute as possiable.I think above all a woman has to make herself happy above all others.The right man for you is going to love you anyway.

Well that is not the only reason you should want to be beautyful. you should do it for yourself and to feel good. Although i think all woman try to be beautyful. It is our right.

I think every woman should feel beautiful as part of her confidence and presence. Whether you are looking to attract a mate or not, you should always feel beautiful and look your best.

I think your opinion is somewhat shallow. Can't the point of being beautiful just be for yourself? Why does it have to be for a man? Also, I hope my husband didn't marry me because he thought I was the most beautiful, but b/c of the way I make him feel / laugh / love....

and all the guys before we got married that only talked to me b/c they liked the way I look - maybe it made me feel good at the time, but the truth of the matter is they can all kiss it.

Women like to feel beautiful however, and spend many hours and a ton of money doing so...
