What's the difference between an espresso and a cuppacino?

I am not a coffee drinker at all but was thinking of buying a coffee machine for someone. All i can find are espresso machines?

Espresso machines generally produce espresso coffee, to which you add hot frothed milk to make a cappucino. Most espresso machines these days have a milk frother so that you can make a cappucino, or any other type of coffee you like, such as a latte, a flat white or a mocha. All of these need espresso, or black coffee, as a base.

Espresso is an element of Cappuccino. Without espresso you will have no Cappuccino.
