What percentage of single American men over 40 never marry?

I'm from a family of 4 boys- all married in their early 30s,and have kids. I'm a 40 year old man,and still single. I'd love a family of my own,but have yet to meet anyone I'd want to share alife with.A friend told me that men who reach 40 and have never been married are very unlikly to ever marry- As women find them too old, and the older a person gets,the more apt they are to get set in their ways.
Is this true?
I wonder what percentage of straight men over 40 (in the Us) whohave never married-remain 'Old He-Maids' and never marry?
I wonder if Ishould just give upon my hopes of having a family of my own...
