What is the process and cost of serving someone in another country?

Lets say you need to divorce someone living in Turkey but haven't had contact with them in over a month. How do you serve them from the US and how much would it cost? Serious answers only, please.

** I asked this the other day and didn't get very specific answers, so I'm asking again**

Your lawyer should associate a law firm in Turkey to see if they can help you with this. I'm assuming you have a valid address for him. If you can't find him after a reasonable search, then, you can serve him by publication at his last known address (one of those ads in the back of the newspaper).

Have you checked with your lawyer? He should be able to advise you on this. Get a good, experienced divorce attorney in your area- they will know what to do if they have been practicing for 10+ years.

Was your husband living in the U.S.- in your area? There might be personal jurisdiction issues.

As to cost, it won't be cheap to associate a foreign firm probably but it's not that much work just to serve him with some papers, so the hours shouldn't be that much.

This is a legal question which will be specific to the facts of your case and the law of your state, so I can't really advise you on it.

Best wishes.
