How can i motivate my stay at home husband to clean up during the day when i am out working?

He drives me to work and the kids to school but thats all he has to do. He says he dont have time or that the house dont look that bad. I work hard and diserve to come home to a clean house right?

Tell him that if things don't change HE is going to work and YOU are going to stay home!! haha.

I honestly don't know how to motivate him. Maybe instead of 'motivating' him to clean...figure out what he is doing that he says he doesn't have time. He MUST be doing something....and day-time television gets pretty boring.

I'll admit, I work less than hubby so I'm kind of 'stay-at-home'....and right now we only have 1 vehicle, so I get up at 5AM and take him to work......and I come back home and often times take a nap, LOL. I know that sounds horrible, but I do....and I don't always remember to set an alarm....so I don't get as much done as I'd like to all the time.

Is he doing anything at all? Or is everything the same when you get home as it was when you left in the morning? There's really no reason that he can't be doing at least a LITTLE bit. Sometimes I don't have time to get to everything because hubby has me run some of his errands when he's at work.....but it's not all that difficult to keep up on the housework. Especially if you do a little bit everyday.

He shouldn't be staying at home if he's just going to sit on his butt all day!! Tell him to either clean up around the house or get up off his lazy rear end and get a job so you can hire someone to clean for you!

man when you figure that out... let us all know...lol

motivate him to get his *** to work, he does not need to sit home all day,

Instead of hounding him for what he didn't do, tell him how much you appreciate what he did do. Then he may be willing to do more.

If he doesn't have any motivation to go to work, what makes you think he will clean the house?

Tell him you are going to leave and he will HAVE to get a job to pay child support...

...sheesh, how can you let this go on?

Don't clean it up when you get home or on the weekends. It may take a while but eventually he'll realize your serious about having him help you out.

Well, don't let him suck you into having to nag. He knows what his responsibilites are. He will either choose to follow through or not.

On the other hand, what is expected of you after work? Are you cooking and cleaning up for dinner? Do it. check the kids homework, makes sure they get their baths, and tuck them in. then take a nice, hot bath and go to bed.

Like the answer above, "Night, hon, I am soooo tired."

You bear the burden of finances, the housework and the kids. If he can't choose to participate, then you have a problem.

He needs a job. You do not need another dependent, you need a partner.

So say nothing, do what needs to be done, function like the single parent you are. Eventually you might say, "I was talking with a girlfriend who is single with kids, and our routine is identical. Isn't that funny?"

You don't have to be separated or divorced to receive Child Support. You can file at any time and it is retroactive to that date. You don't need a lawyer. You can go to Family Court, fill out the paperwork, turn it in, and wait for your court date. So, even if he is not contributing, should he ever accidentally hold down a job, you would receive Child Support.

Kung Fu

tell him look i work u dont the least u can do is clean the house

Be passive aggressive about it. come home and start cleaning and cooking and all that stuff...at the end of the day when you are laying in bed, comment with a dramatic voice on how tired you are....It works!

Praise him when he does do something in the house, that might work.

Just because he doesn't "clean" house that doesn't mean he doesn't do anything. Is the yard maintained, does he work on the car? Does he cook dinner?
