What are the essentials for a makeup to look professionally done?

How to wear the eye shadow? Eye liner? Mascara? Powder or foundation? Blush, Lipstick or lip gloss?
It looks so nice when women get it professionally done but I don't know how to. Thanks, 10 pts for the best answer!

The first thing you have to do is clean the skin and use a toner to remove all dirt, extra oil, etc. Then apply a GOOD foundation, you can use cheap everything else, but you have to have a good foundation and concealer (I love Cliniques, but Neutragena is good as well). Make sure you cover all blemishes with concealer, and also apply it under your eyes to cover darkness or circles underneath. Then apply your eyeshadow, a neutral color all over the lid, and a darker color in the crease. you can also put a dab of white where your tear duct is, makes your eyes brighter. Apply eyeliner to the top lid, close to the eyelash, just follow your eye, then at the end bring it up just a little, so it is a little thicker at the end. Then softly apply eyeliner to the bottom of your eye, blend in with a sponge, or the tip of your eyeliner, this gives it a more natural look. Use a blush that is not too bright, soft pinks are in, and bronzer is in also. Apply a lip liner on the outer part of your lips, shaping them well. Then fill in lips with a gloss, nude, or soft in color (I love VIP pink from Clinique, it goes with ALL skin tones and is very pretty and natural). Tada......you done and all beautiful!!

I would say you have a really shiny lip gloss on, noticeale smoother skin, as in great blending of the concealer and a good dusting of bronser. I would also make sure that hyou use more than one tone of eyeshadow and create hollows. Dont just swipe one colour right across the lid, add the lightest in the center near your nose and the middle colour from teh middle outwards and them put the darkest/black color on the outer and in the crease to create depth.
Also have some shimmer somewhere, be it on your cheek bones or under your brow!
oh and great blush is good too, get it in the right area to create a better cheekbone look and make sure you cna see it.! Give yourself a good glow! :)

Having good features & a totally good skin care routine helps tremendously.
go for eyes first. videojug.com, explains why. try the smoky eye look & you'll see.
then after that do powder, the minerals or something like smashbox photo finish makeup that u use with thier applicator brush.

use highlighter, on your forehead, cheekbones & under your brow bone on the outer edges, Do you cheeks only under the bone to accentuate it. it a stroke no longer than 2 fingers from your nose.

Lip liner,if you will & color, or lip liner & shiny shiny lip gloss.

Go over,it with your (preferably)minerals lose powder & brush your lashes &brows then with an eyelash brush or a hard toothbrush -- studio artist secret, now outta the bag !!
practice & good luck (they also use the air brush, but this will acheive that look if done right)

I think that the essentials for having a makeup looking professionally done are ...

Time. Good Products...Good Brushes...Time. Patience...Practice ( i know I said time twice ) but I think that is the key to it.

I think starting with a good clean face works the best....and then use a good primer for the face and eyes...... I had bought the ERA Spray Foundation and I was really impressed with it. It goes on easy and does give you a flawless look but it is expensive. I think taking your time with eyeliner matters ....I am constantly reading and checking you tube for how to videos to learn something new or a better way of doing things. I really think that most women have the talent to do it and make it look really nice its just that we are always in such a hurry.....I know that if I am going somewhere special I do make the time to apply it all and do it right . I practice with it even if I am not going anywhere ....I love the Bare Minerals ...I love their shadows ...you can mix them and create a different color ....also MAC has great shadows .....and great eyeliner. I think you need good quality products and good brushes......I am gonna send you some links of products I use or have used. Also, I use Model in a Bottle to set my makeup after I have done it and it works really well ...I had watched an Oprah show and that was a product they recommended. But I believe you can do it ....just take the time and I think you will surprise yourself....
