Does anyone know why a new refrigerator might make a harsh clacking sound in the motor on occasion?

yes, my frigidaire. I love it, but it sounds like gremlins have invaded. It works fine, but there is a loud clickety-clacking noise intermittently. Any suggestions?

More than likely you need to level the refrigerator. When you do this you probably will find the gremlins have gone away.

you might want to get the compressor checked out .

The compressor mounts may be loose.

what is happening is kinda like what happens when your central air turns on and off the temperature reaches a certain degree and it shuts off and comes on.........same thing with a fridge. if the sound is louder than usual then try to move it and clean out the dust and dirt from underneath of the fridge. good luck!
