My home had a fire and extensive smoke damage. Can a restoration co really get the smoke out of the carpet?

The company will use an ozonator and will clean the carpet. But isn't the odor also trapped in the pad? Will it smell a year after the cleaning?

I used to work in insurance, and the company I worked for generally replaced all furniture and carpets that were smoke damaged - they did say that the restoration co could get rid of most of the smell, but on certain days (like really humid, hot days) the smell would return.

So - I think the answer is no. Ask for new carpet.

no if you have insurane have everthing replaced and work with a recovery company they have been through this before purchase all new

No, If you choose a respectable company with lots of expierence and praise, you will have no problem!

I don't think they can get the smoke smell out. My experiance with smoke damage is to replace the carpet.

You will be surprised at how well restoration companies are at getting rid of smoke damage. One of the office buildings I worked in had a fire in it. They were there for three or four days, but when they were gone, minus the actual burned office, you wouldn't have known there was a fire. But, you will get what you pay for. Likely though, your insurance company will have more say in who does the work.

well it might come clean but get them to sign a warrenty 4 lifetime it should be under ins and yes it will come back after a while unless its onl serface smoke. also get an estimate on new be4 they clean then u can compare also hv it worked up already incase smthing goes bad and u hv carpet witnesses good luck
