How can I clean verdigris spots from my antique copper without wrecking the patina? |
I have an antique dry sink (1780) with a copper lining on top. I moved recently and when I lifted it out and looked on the bottom of the liner, there were several little blue-green dots. I don't want these to eat through the copper or anything (it's solid, custom made for the piece 50 years ago) so I want to get rid of them but I like the stains and the brown penny patina so I don't want to polish it out all shiny, either. hi use lemon juice and gently rub the spots then put Vaseline on the bit where they were this should stop the oxygen in the air from attacking the spots With a Qtip and some lemon juice just touch the spots. take Lemon and cut it in half then dip it in salt and rub it on your copper and it will clean it......as much as you like! |
