Where can I find an electrical plug adaptor for my clothes dryer? |
I have a newer clothes dryer with a 3 prong plug. (center prong has an L shape) However, the outlet in my new home is made for plug with 3 straight prongs. Is there some kind of adaptor or converter I can buy so I can use my dryer? I neglected to mention that my clothes dryer is electric. Also,I've been told at ACE hardware store that no such adaptor available. However, some of the replies I've received today state otherwise. I'm very confused. I have pictures of the plug and outlet if anyone wants to see them. Email me at vickiemolina@yahoo.com THANKS you have a 220 pigtail on your dryer, you need to make sure your outlet is 220,not 110,if it is, you can either change the outlet to the other 220 outlet or the pigtail to match your outlet, pigtail is easier to change I have this same problem in my house and I was wondering where you got the dryer cord. Is it something easy to get at a Hardware store or do you have to contact the maker? Report Abuse There is no such item, however you may be able to replace the dryer's cord and plug. (There is a 3-wire and a 4-wire version. newer homes and use 4 wire a plug and receptacle while many older homes still have the old 3-wire receptacle - that's why they're still sold. (about $10 i think) any home improvement store such as lowes, home depot. Rather than an adapter you just get the whole cord. A lot of people call those "pigtails". they're easy to change. have an electrical contractor come out and change your outlet to the correct one. If you go changing the cord on your appliance, who knows ? why mess with something you have no concept of? Sears I think what has happened is whoever wired your house put a 50amp range receptical instead of a 30amp dryer recp. They don't make an adaptor for this. Either replace the pigtail on your dryer with a range pigtail ( available at any electrical supply store ) or replace the receptical. The device is cheaper but the pigtail is easier to install. |
