What is the best way to plant a pineapple? |
I have been to several websites and found conflicting directions. I would like to get directions from someone who has first hand expierence. Pineapples are simple to grow. Just broke off the crown from the fruit then cut the base straight to remove some leftover fruit flesh out (to avoid rotting). Then pulled the leaves off the first inch from the base to expose the main stem. Doing this you'll exposed the skin where the new roots comes out from, leaving the bottom leaves will be hard for the roots to come out because it has to puncture layers of leaves. This way the roots reach the soil and nutrients right away and you'll have a better success. First off cut the pineapple off about inch from the top, then let the fruit insude dry out then put it in potting medium, the let it root, plenty of light, it will be fine. |
