If i stick 2 red potatoes in dirt, will it grow a potato tree? |
or whatever it's called, Will more potatoes come out besides the roots? You get potatoes by planting another potato 鈥?a seed potato 鈥?or a piece of potato with an 'eye' and letting it grow into a potato bush. The potatoes grow underneath 鈥?lovely fat tubers on the roots. Well, make sure you wait until they grow eyes and then toss them in the ground. They actually do better if you like cut them in half & let each side grow eyes before burying under soil but they are pretty hearty as far as coming up as a potato plant. The only problem I sometimes have is my critters will take them out of the ground but I have better luck if I plant closer to house/lights/marigolds. You only need one. When you leave them in the bag too long, they get those "limb's", right, so plant them in fertile, moist soil in a cool place. They will grow. Good luck! Cut them into sections leave an eye on each chunk. They need to set at least over night to scar the cuts. Then plant them. Some of the potatoes you buy in the store I have been told are treated to slow down the sprouting on them but if the eyes are trying to sprout they should grow. Next time you want to try to grow some early in the spring find you some seed potatoes the grow great. Yes, most likely. I threw a whole bunch of rotten potatoes in My compost piles over the years, and it grew into plants! with potatoes. You might want to cut up the potatoes in 1/4 ths. To make it decompose quicker. yes, the eyes will grow, root and become a low plant. not a tree. the root and plant derive their beginning nutrients from the actual meat of the potato which will shrivel up as the nutrients are used. Yes it will..but it wont be a tree..it'll grow like a vine..leaves and flowers will grow. it might take awhile though. Yes but they'd have to decompost first to reach the seed. Yes if you nourish it the correct way. no.. because for something to grow.. it will need a seed. then that seed will sprout and create a vine or a tree or a bush of whatever it is growing |
