How often should i water my plants and flowers that are outside?

i thought i was watering my flowers enough in the heat, but one of them still dying. dont know what to do. i was watering it every couple of days. dont want to drown it either.

Frequency of watering depends upon the kind of plants you have. If it's just one flower that's dying and rest are okay, it may be just that one plant is sick and can't be revived.

It's possible that you are not giving them enough water each time. If you are hand-watering with a garden hose, make sure the ground gets good and wet around each plant. Don't just wet the plant; aim for its base so you'll get at the root system.
If the soil is dry and hard from a drought, the water may sit on top without soaking in. You'll need to spend a longer time watering, or run the sprinkler for a longer period.

I read somewhere to water twice, and that's what I do. I start at one end of the garden and water everything, concentrating on those flowers and plants that are a bit more thirsty. This first time is to prepare the soil by softening it up a bit. Then I go back again and water the second time so it'll soak in.

I find the best time to water is in the evening when the sun goes down. Don't water during the heat of the day; the sun will evaporate the water before it's had a chance to do any good.

Check the dirt with your finger. The smaller the pots, the more frequently they need water. Also, if you have a lot of plants crowded into one pot you may have to water as often as twice a day if the weather is very hot. You can mitigate that somewhat by tucking some sphagnum moss around the plants in the pot.

Depends where you live and how you transplanted it. It could be just age, as plants don't last forever. If you recently potted it, you might not have gotten all the air out of the root ball. It could be drainage. Does the pot have good drainage? If you live in the south, it could be that the soil is poor and you need to add Miracle Grow in large amounts the the poor thing. You also might be growing something that's not suitable for your area.

Have had lots of problems living in Texas. Good Luck

If the weather is very warm they need to be watered every day. The best time to water would be in the evening. If you water during the day when the sun is beating down the water will just evaporate without giving any justice to the plants.
