What to do when you realize you've been an asshole (taking for granted) to friends, family?

I feel a lot of old friends (from high school) are slowly starting to shun me with indifference.

Are these things reversible?

I've lost a close friend because of a mistake I made in high school so I don't want this to happen to you.

Go to these friends and apologize before you lose the friendships. Things are reversible if what you did isn't horrible and sometimes it may even be reversible if it was. Depends on the capability of forgiveness that these friends have.

Just sincerely apologize for the way that you've acted and ask for their forgiveness. Tell them you don't want to lose their friendships and tell them just how much it means to you.

It's not a guarantee but it's the best option.
