For a size 18 for a woman is it best to go solids or prints?

For a person who is a size 18 and entering back in the work force it is best to wear solid colors or prints or both? What do you think? My color is fall from color me beatuiful and I do know my colors I just need to know how to sharpen my style.

You should wear a bit of both and of course add some nice accesories to compliment. The only thing you need to stay away from are very large bold patterns over 1.5-2 inches in size each. A lot of floral patterns are really bold so stay away from those. The most important for a full figured lady is to look for clothing that fits right, you should always ask sales associates to look at the clothes on you and tell you if it fits correctly, that's what they're there for! Wearing an item that's too big is almost just as unflattering as one that's too tight. Also other slimming tricks include rouching (you may already know but its when the fabric is sort of scrunched or gathered) or seams and stripes that run vertical OR diagonal and not horizontal.

I found this link while browsing around and thought it may help too. :) http://www.pasazz.net/lovingmycurves/

Congrats on your new chapter in life!

It really depends on the print. There are some things that I'm sure you know to avoid already. Such as horizontal stripes and larger prints. I think that verticle stripes are fine just keep in mind only one or two colors so that you don't look to busy. Really when it comes to the print you have to see, now-a-days people are wearing more flowery prints and it's not bad but on a bigger woman it's not as pretty. Also depending on the print you might want to choose a lighter or stiffer material. stiffer materials hold better and don't give you a pouchy (sp?) look. When your talking about colors go for darker colors like black and navy blue, one thing is DON'T ever match the colors of your top and your bottom unless it's black. Say you wear a nice dark blue pair of pants don't wear a navy shirt, some people end up looking like a blob. I hope this helps I'm not too good with describing prints and such but I do hope this helps you. Besides as long as your comfortable with what you wear what does it matter?

Solids

Solids
Prints only if its pin strips. Strips going up and down make you look skinnier, trust me! i am an 18 too and all i wear are pin strips. And the nice thing is they are always in style!

ok u should deefinnly go with solids most of the time but u have to go a little crazy sumtimes so go with prints too but not too much

My advice would be do both!! Why shouldn't you be able to wear prints!! THe only thing that matters with Prints is the size of the print. To small of a print would be too small for your frame and too large will draw to much attention.
Usually solid colors on top and a print skirt or a pair of trousers and a medium sized print blouse..Don't pay attention to size, pay attention to how it fits, everyone of any size usually needs their clothes Tailored. Most places it is 5 dollars for pants up to 10.00. Plus by haveing them taylored to your body you will feel comfortable and use them more often. Go with Monocromatic tones. hope this helps!!

I'd stay mostly solids. You can incorporate a few patterns, just make sure the colors aren't out there (too bright or bold)!

solids.

-prints can get to crazy and actually make the illusion of a bigger waste and leg. Not that your not beautiful. Prints playy tricks to the eye and solids are always safe.

You can wear either - the trick is proportion and cut. For example, if you wear big shapeless things, you will look like...well, a big, shapeless thing. If you wear huge floral prints everywhere, you will look like a flower garden gone wild.

Think vertical lines - pinstripe pants, v-neck or cable-stitch sweaters, wrap dresses (which have a v-neck and also camoflague a less-than-trim tummy.) Wearing heels, even slight ones, also help to elongate the body. Skirts should hit just above or below the knee - too long and you'll look dumpy. Jackets should be single-breasted vs. double-breasted to avoid bulk - narrower lapels will draw less attention to a large bust.

Speaking of busts, if yours is size-18 propotionate, avoid ruffles, smocking, or big puffy sleeves. Stick to pintucks, darts, princess seaming, and so on. A lovely brooch or scarf is also a nice way to draw attention toward the face and away from the center of the body. Long necklaces are more slimming than chokers.

Good luck in the new job - knock 'em dead! :)

definately solids. Look at your local female news anchors. betcha they're all wearing solids. you can't go wrong with solids...just projects a better sense of style. Prints tend to get too busy and especially with larger sizes they can make a woman look dowdy. Also stay away from ruffles and pastels.

Solids.
