What is the duck sauce used for when eating at chinese restaurants?

You know the one that is orange and comes in a small packet.

I use it for the fried noodles, but my daughter uses it for her eggroll.

I think that's for rice, chicken, or eggroll.

The sauce is actually sweet plum sauce. You can get it at any Asian grocery shop. It usually comes in a bottle which can be stored in the fridge for usage later.

It's great to dip your egg roll in. Also, to put a little of that on the rice is good if you like a sweet taste.

the sauce is called hoi sin sauce, you can get it on most of large supermarket. it is good with stir fried noodles, marinade for spare ribs and chicken. my favourite is with spare ribs, cook it slowly in the oven (150'c) cover with alum foil until tender then open the alum foil to roast it until it get nice BBQ colour with high temperature (200'c)

you can have better if you just buy chinese plum sauce in an asian supermarket.

It is just a garnish for egg rolls and such. Does not really taste like duck..lol It is comparable to sweet and sour sauce.

it can be used for the cruchy noodles you get with your soups! But you can use it for your rice, eggrolls, meats, veggies, etc! I use it on my rice and sometimes in my eggrolls! The crunchy noodles are cool and you eat it with the sause while it's warm!

In Singapore, when we eat crispy duck, we either have chili sauce/paste freshly make (sweet) or plum sauce with orange zest. Normally sweet sauces goes very well with duck.

It is just something to add more flavor to things like egg rolls, fried won tons, etc. You don';t have to use it, if you don't want to.

it called PLUM SAUCE ...you can get them at oriental markets..they use hoisin sauce too but plum sauce is the orange one...

Duck Sauce is just another name for Sweet and Sour Sauce. The only difference is that they use peaches in it.
