How much does it cost to to build a restaurant?

I'm doing a project at school and i need to know how much it costs.

I think this would depend on location, restaurants in Manhattan would cost more than say Allentown, PA?

$100,000.00 up or down.
Consider the kitchen, refrigeration, tables & chairs, maybe booths, decor, all utensils and table ware, linens, drink dispensers, coffee, trash and environment friendly garbage containers, etc.

A first class one can cost up to $250,000.00 to open.

alot of it is leased items - not bought.

Lots and lots! There is no top amount. Some top tier restaurants cost 10s of millions of dollars. On the low end, you can rent an existing space with the proper floors and equipment for a few thousand a month. Then there was a show on TV than redecorated/upgraded existing restaurants and they typically wanted a budget on the order of 25,000. I would say you need around $125,000 to equip a small 30 cover space. But that might be low.

That all depends , but it reminds me of a joke: How do you make a small fortune in the restaurant business? Start with a large one
