What are some ideas of black and white appetizers to fit the theme of a black and white party?

I did this once: Make little crostini by slicing a baguette about 1/3-inch thick, brushing lightly with vegetable oil, and toasting at 350 for 5 minutes or so (just until they're golden around the edges, not rock-hard). While they're still warm, spread each one either with one of those herbed cream-cheese spreads they sell in a tub at the supermarket, or else make your own with softened cream cheese, roasted garlic, thyme, salt and pepper. Then use a small spoon to put a dollop of tapenade (olive spread made with Kalamata olives, a spritz of lemon juice, and a little freshly ground pepper. You can buy jars of it in stores, but again, you can easily make your own if you have a food processor). Make sure that the olive spread doesn't completely cover the white cheese spread, since it's supposed to be black and white.

If your guests--and your budget--are up for caviar, another great and easy appetizer: hardboil 2 or 3 eggs, separate the yolks from the whites, and force the whites through a fine sieve (they come out in little squiggly bits). Take some thinly sliced, firm-textured white bread (such as Pepperidge Farm "Veri-Thin" if you can find it), cut off the crusts, toast it lightly as above, butter it, and cut each slice on the diagonal. Then carefully mound some of the egg white on half of each toast, and a little Sevruga caviar on the other. P.S: I usually sieve and use the egg yolk too, even though the results aren't strictly "black and white", because the yolk adds flavor.)

Encourage your guests to dress in black and white, and serve martinis garnished with a black olive plus a cocktail onion. For non-imbibers, have lots of lemon-lime and black-cherry soda. I'd probably go for vintage jazz music--lots of Cole Porter--as a soundtrack. If you want to go all-out, it should be easy to find relatively cheap black-and-white cloth napkins at a party supply store such as Michael's.

You could have sushi! White fish wrapped in rice & seaweed (which is green, but always appears black).

You could do grits or oatmeal with raisins. I'm not 100% sure how that would work as an appetizer, but they're white and black.

You could absolutely do a black bean dip with white corn chips. Heck, you can do anything with white corn chips.

As for what to drink, I'd go with "white" sodas like Fresca and Squirt.

I've seen a mashed potato bar before, where mashed potatoes are served in a martini glass and there are condiments to add like cheese or sour cream. . . maybe that would work?

You could do petite chocolate chip cheesecakes with chocolate graham cracker crusts.

Small balls of fresh mozzerella, lightly marinated in olive oil with a bit of crushed garlic. Make toothpick skewers with a mozz ball and a pitted kalamata olive.

Or ... crostini with goat cheese and a dollop of black olive tapanade.

You could do something with caviar too.

Black beans don't look black after they are crushed into a dip. They do look black when they are intact in a salad if you don't stir too much. You could do a salad with white corn an jicama.

Some pasta companies make striped ravioli that is black and white. The black comes from squid ink pasta. Check the frozen ravioli section of gourmet markets such as Whole Foods. Serve it with a cream sauce, or a clear olive oil based sauce so the colors really shine through. Or you could just get black, squid ink pasta and serve it with a white cream sauce.

There is also a black rice that is gaining in popularity. I think it's thai. Places like Whole Foods often have black rice salads available. You could also get a white rice salad and plate them together.
