How to better plan things with friends and family? |
I want to start planning events and things to do with my partner and friends... I've never really planned anything before... I am mostly a homebody type of person. But even my friends get tired of coming over all the time.. So now I want to start doing events out and about... is there like a website to make this process easier? You guys could do something once a month (like a game night or movie night or dinner club or something) and rotate whose house you go to each month. Plan it for a day that will be easy to remember and hard to find excuses to cancel on (like, "First Monday of every month" or "last Thursday of every month") that way it's not hogging up their weekend and it's a break from the work week. Whoever will be hosting it at their home will be in charge of the main course and everyone else can bring sides/snacks/drinks and games/movies. You could even do these as theme nights. Like... if you're going to watch scary movies, decorate the living room in that theme and make foods that go along with it (Rachael Ray suggests this on 30-minute meals). For example, spaghetti and meatballs could be a "bowl of guts" (not an appetizing name, I know) or something like that. we do that with my sisters- we each rotate every other month and plan out an activity. We've gone ice skating, out to movies, dinner or lunch, picnics, sightseeing around town, shopping, bowling.....the list is endless. So maybe get together with the different groups you'd like to start doing activities with say one group of friends and the other family activities- and decide how often you'd like to plan stuff- set up the first date for the event and figure our who will be the party planner for that event- set a price limit too. then they mail out invites about the event- then assign the next person after that. Every three to four weeks should be enough to rotate events. I found this website that helps you get exposure and publicize your event - especially if you're in the New Jersey/New York area. You can post your event even if you're in another area though. It's pretty simple to use and you can sign up to be part of the community too. It's at http://www.kangalope.com Try this website..great step by step instructions for planning all kinds of parties and celebrations for lots of occasions. |
