How far in advance should I plan a huge birthday bash?

My cousin and I are turning 25 at the end of next year, and we ant to throw a huge 25th Birthday party. I wanted to know from people who have thrown over the top parties, how far in advance did you plan? And is a year too early to start planning?

When I planned my husband's 30th birthday party, I started almost a full year in advance. The first thing I did was make a budget, and a list of everything that would need to be done between the time I started and the day of the party.

I made a rough guest list and count and then when and I had my budget and head count I started interviewing sites. I booked my site 8 months in advance (because they book up quick).

I stuck to a strict time line for everything I did and sent my invites out 6 weeks in advance.

The end result...a fabulous 30th birthday party with no hitches. I think it's always best to start planning as soon as possible!

Don't start now, you'll get bored before the party with all the planning. The only thing I would do now is rent a venue if it's a very popular one that may get booked early. Other than that, start planning in about September of next year. It won't hurt to start a small saving for the party though. And throughout the year as you notice party things on sale, purchase and store.

It depends on how many details and how big your party will be. I start planning my Holiday party for my office in May, but thats only because I need to look for a decent location. So give yourself about 6 months, but if you have a budget you need to stick to... Plan it out and keep a record of everything.

It depends on what you want and how busy your friends are. If your friends plan months in advance, it's probably best to send the invitations out now and a reminder later. Also if you want to book a hall/room, you might want to plan now before somebody else books it. Also entertainment should be booked immediately, because they do plan months in advance. Also make backup plans because, for example, your favorite DJ could be sick that day.

I got a part invitation in October that isn't going to happen till August of next year.

Sicne you're comptetng w/ Cmas holidays, make reservations for somewhere NOW.

six mo. that always has worked for me and invitations 3to2 mo. before the party it's polite enough to get the day off in case they work but not so long that they'll forget and if the location needs to be booked call them now to check if they have a waiting list or something but before everything have a good estimate of how many ppl will be attending so you can get an idea of the cost with seating, food/drinks, parking etc.

Dont plan too much now. This time next year you will want something different, different colours, whatever. I would say plan about three months in advance. it gives you time to make a list of people you want there, to organise things, find a venue and all that. you will also buil up the excitement when doing it closer to the time.

You can never start too early when throwing a big bash. You can start with a guest list. Start writing down all the names and addresses of your friends and family members that you will want to invite. Then as you go through next year you can sporadically pick up decorations and invitations so the cost does not all hit you at once. But do not invest in too much in case you have to change the date or something unplanned occurs. Enjoy! I love throwing parties!!
