What is the best dish to bring along to a barbecue?

I have been invited to a bbq, have to bring along a dish of something. What dish would you take along / or have enjoyed?

pasta salad
tossed salad
fruit punch
trifle
kedigree (not pedigree)
naan breads

mustard potato salad!

Homemade Mac-n-cheese.

A big dish of steak swimming in A1 steaksauce. MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!

Blonde six foot and blue eyes

Garlic Bread

Bring something without mayo, because you probably won't have access to a fridge and you don't want to impose yourself anyway. So why not a fruit salad, baked potatoes with butter and herbs, salad without mayo dressing, etc.

Steak and beer lot's of beer

I always take a large Caesar salad, as everyone tends to take meat and its good as a change

A dip with the vegetables or a salad, always popular!

Baked pepper salad and lean lamb marinated in red wine, garlic, olive oil and rosemary.

Avoid the BBQ Beef kebabs sold in tesco for something like 2 for 3 quid.

By the time theyve got to the checkout, theyre degraded to "Barbeque flavoured meat".

And your host and his guests will inquire as to what you've allowed them to eat, and most of your acquisition will end up in the host's household pets.

boiled rice mixed with peas and onions goes down really well with sausges, burgers and jacket potatoes.

BEER!!!!!!!!!!!lol youll be every ones freind

I think you should bring a nice refreshing fruit salad. Cut up melon, apples, peaches, and pears. Add in strawberries, bluberies and grapes.

Have Fun!!!

smoked salmon

Baked beans are always great, or egg salad is a novelty.

salad

potato
or
pasta

macaroni and cheese or green bean cassarole

sower crowt

Potato Salad
Coleslaw
Fruit Salad
Baked Beans
7 Layer Dip

Some kind of salad or pasta dish!? Maybe Cous cous ... anything like that.

I tend to make a bread tray.
First off find a nice sized platter
1 fresh loaf of either pumpernickel or hawaiian sweet bread

hollow out the center to form a small bowl in the center, but leave room on the bread to add the following.

fresh fruit/veggies: grapes, cherries, bite size pieces of melon
olives, carrots, celery, radishes; also deli meat...turkey and roast beef are really popular; as well as baby swiss and mini weenies and chunks of chedderjack

I usually roll up a piece of cheese inside the deli meat; and cut into chunks...toothpick this onto the bread and arrange fresh fruit and veggies around the tray with a few slices of orange for added garnish.

In the middle put your favorite dip. Knorrs has an awesome spinich dip...or sometimes you can just put ranch dip or dressing. whatever you like.

People at a bbq tend to like fingerfoods and this is always a hit when I go to my friends. I've actually started getting special requests for this.

There's always leftover meat; cheese; fruite, veggies that I couldn't get onto the tray so I bring them along to refill the platter. I never go home with leftover food.

Macaroni or potato salad -
Deviled eggs - never can get enuf of these

Bratwurst...throw them on the grill as appetizers.....that's different and easy.

mac n cheese
potato salad
rolls
baked beans
a dip
chips
stuffed jalapenos
a dessert (look up OREO BALLS) MMMM!

I'm known for bringing dessert dishes to bbq's. I usually make homemade brownies, but last time I made this Fruit Pizza and it was a huge success. I used Strawberries, Blueberries, Raspberries and sliced Kiwi Fruit.

Depends whether you are providing the meat or the accompaniments. If it's meat and you're not too worried about costs, because you don't say how many will be there, I would suggest the following.

Marinated pork steaks, loins or chops.

Ingredients: (for 8 persons)
Pork loin steaks or pork chops, one for each person.
Marinade:
4 tablespoons Mushroom Soy Sauce (Ordinary will do if you can't get mushroom type)
4 tablespoons Worcester Sauce.
Teaspoon balsamic vinegar
Teaspoon mustard powder
Teaspoon chilli powder
Teaspoon coriander
Teaspoon cumin
Teaspoon paprika
Teaspoon turmeric
1 bayleaf
shake of salt and black pepper

Place the pork in a dish in the refrigerator. Mix the marinade ingredients thoroughly and pour over the meat. Allow it to soak in overnight, turning the meat occasionally. Just before leaving for the barbecue take out the meat and put it in a food container together with the marinade. When cooking turn frequently and baste with the remaining marinade. Delicious.

(You could add a clove of crushed garlic to the marinade if you like but as I hate it for making me feel sick when I smell or taste it I never use it.)

If it's an accompaniment then how about some large baked potatoes. Wash them and remove any 'eyes'. Dry them, prick all over with a fork, sprinkle with salt and bake in the over, 200c until browned and cooked through. You can do this in advance. Before leaving wrap each one in tinfoil and place in oven 180c for ten minutes then place in suitable container. Place on barbecue still in foil and serve with plenty of butter and a green salad.

Deviled eggs.

Banana Pudding. NO ONE dislikes banana pudding!

Some kind of salad. Potato, pasta, vegtable, fruit.
