Where can I find a cheap puppy in new england?

I live in Maine and I am interested in purchasing a medium size dog. I have been searching around and researching breeds, however I can't find the right dog. Does anyone know of any breeders that sell dogs for less than $500? I would also like this dog to be hypoallergenic. Thank you.

$300 for initial supplies.
$100 a year for vet visits.
$40 a month for food.
$1000s of more neccesites over the years.


Second of all, no reputable breeder would sell a medium sized dog for under $500.


Third of all, There is no such thing as a hypo allergenic dog. However, some breeds, like poodles, shed less than others.


If you are prepared, Then I would suggest a visit to your local shelter.

1) there are no truely hypoallergenic dogs..dander causes allergies, all dogs have skin so therefore all dogs produce dander.
2) if you want a purebred dog and want it from a breeder yuo wil lnot likely find a purebred from a responsible ethical breeder for under $500

There are tons of dogs of all breeds/sizes in Maine...there are many shelters & rescues in Maine with lots of really great small/medium size dogs.

Animal shelters don't just sell mongrels. Many times, pure-breeds are abandoned too. Ofcourse, the papers don't automatically come with them.

But, your shelter can help identify a breed or mixed breed you are interested in, and it frees up space for other dogs. All of our most loved dogs came from the shelter, including our last two female lab mixes who at 3, now weigh 69 and 89 pounds, and have more love than that!

Try going to the humane society. There're often medium sized dogs there, ranging from puppy to senior in age.

The adoption fees here are around one hundred dollars, which includes the dog already having been altered (spayed or neutered) and microchipped.

Try going to www.petfinder.com to find a dog.

There is no such thing as a "cheap" dog, they don't just stop costing money after you buy one. Some "cheap" dogs end up costing thousands due to health problems...just something you should think about.
Either look into a rescue or reputable breeder (a reputable breeder would have health history of their dogs though).
