What is the average cost of a gallon of paint?

I want to paint a bedroom in my house but I'm not sure of how much I should spend on paint, and what the price range of a one gallon bucket is.

It all depends on what type and what brand of paint you want. I have seen paint as cheep as $8.00 and as high as $50.00 maybe even more in some places.

Maybe $8

Bout 20 bux er so

12 and up,depends on a lot of things. You can get good paint at Walmarts for about 12-18 $ a gallon....

About 20 bucks. Depends on the paint grade.

The best paint is super good with a super price of $25 and more. Names like Dutch Boy are very good buys at home stores, but the best Dutch Boy won't be found at Walmart because Walmart demands the companies maker stuff cheaper for them.

But if all you want is a fairly good paint that will last a few years then by all means go to Walmart.
It sounds like $8-$10 might be your best price range. For that price the paint will be washable but not scrubable, the color choice will be good and the finish should be good also.
.
Don't buy a cheap roller and brush set.
The old saying is that a bad brush can make good paint look bad. Well, a bad brush and roller can make cheap paint look really bad, Try to get a good set of brushes and rollers without spending a fortune. Besides, a good brush and roller can be used on future projects.

about $25, 1 gal = 400 square feet coverage

Hi!

Paint is made with petroleum products, and the price is rising accordingly.

I work for a Benjamin Moore franchise. #1 selling premium paint brand on the market, and as any professional painter will attest, it's the best paint money can buy! Some people call me after a purchase to say there is something wrong with the paint because it's so thick. But it is costly, at around $45 bucks a gallon, compared to $10 paint..

When you choose a bargain paint, you get a weaker product all around. It's watery. It doesn't have as much mildecide. It's smelly. It's not as cleanable. And there's more VOC's (volatile organic componds). It's more work to apply, and with multiple coats, it ends up costing pretty close to premium at times, not to mention the extra labor it takes to apply all those coats.

I look at it like this... I have spent more money on a pair of sandals I may have worn three times than the paint I purchased for 1st kitchen and stared at for 6 years.

The bottom line is this...if this is your permanent home, consider a quality paint.

In my own home, I choose Ben Moore's matte finish. It's not only wipeable, as is virtually all paint, but it is actually scrubbable. And because the finish is matte (read:flat) you can touch up any spots the scrubbing didn't remove. It's the best I've ever used. I even have it in my kitchen by my stovetop.

Good luck on your quest!

On average for "normal" paint I would say $25.00

Around $18-25. Get high quality one coat paint at home depot or ace hardware.
If you go with cheap paint, you will have to apply multiple coats and the finish is not as nice.
Have fun, and good luck!

$15

Cheap stuff at walmart is like $7-$8 gal. but very thin and you'll probably need 2 coats. If you go to Menards and get Dutch Boy it'll be about $15-$17 gal. And the Behr paint at Home Depot is about $20 gal or more. You can look at home Depot through the OOPS paint which is paint that customers brought back because it wasn't quite right or paint that was mixed and then not purchased. SOmetimes you get lucky and find a color you like and then it's only $5 gal. Ask at the paint counter.

color paint ranges from about 60$ to 80$ not including tax, where as white paint or basic if you would, goes from about 20$ to about 40$ shop around for best price near you..try to remember that the cost of gas is something you add on to that price on that can of paint...
