What colors would look good together for the walls of a living room?

I'm getting ready to paint the walls in the living room. I need some ideas on what colors would look together.

Depends on the color of your flooring.

For a country look...go for muted colors.
For an earthy look go for terra cotta, sand, sage, chocolate brown and beige.
Warm look...go for reds and golds.
Cool look...go for blues and greens
Vibrant look...go for purple and deep reds.

Dark colors will make the walls appear closer and the room look smaller. Light colors will make the room look larger.

Try this link to get some ideas of colors you might like. It's really helpful. :-) You can choose colors and then the program will put them together in a photo of a room so you can get some ideas.

Make sure you take into consideration the colors of the furniture and the carpet!
You can't just say, "I like red" and then try to put it with a blue or pink carpet and furniture.
Everything has to be co-ordinated. Good luck!

lavendar...soft and lt blue also soft. so refreshing and pretty

light blue and VERY light purple

as above poster said one must consider the carpet and furniture, drapes, not to forget how this will coincide with connecting rooms, they really should "flow" together. I usually go with neutral colors for my base: beige, off white, etc. and then go from there and as needed. Green for such things as trim is always a good choice as it is a color and goes with about anything. And one has to consider the size of the room, if it is fairly small one does not want a dark color ( unless it is a bedroom). Have fun, let your creativity soar!!!! I actually went one step further at one house and stenciled a trellis and ivy in one corner of the living room, looked way cool, was somewhat time consuming but had a ball doing it. Also, did a tropical theme in the guest bedroom. sorry I couldn't help more.

forest green and a creamy off white.
