How do I paint my furniture distressed Americana? |
I have a small chest of drawers that I want to paint to look distressed and worn in a darker blue color (to go with some old wood star shaped knobs). I can only find instructions for crackle or to distress white (not really what I'm wanting). Any suggestions on how to do this and what kind of paint to use? Thanks! I would possibly paint the chest with a heavy primer (Kilz is good) I wouldn't put to much effort in it to make it perfect just paint it roughly. Then I would go over it with the blue that you want and once that is dry go over the edges with light sand paper. You could even go a step further by putting dents into the chest with a small hammer before you paint the primer on it and/or get a dark stain and *very lightly* rub over the blue to give it an 'old' or 'dirty' look. If you don't like the idea of the white showing through you could always pick a different color. Have fun and good luck!! Put a coat of blue paint first. Then add 2-3 coats of black and sand If you are near are crafts store, like Michael's, they will sell you what you need and tell you how to do it. Professionals. |

Okay, not allowed to take them down...hmm. I had these and they were basically slats clipped to the track at the top. You should be able to gently pull the slat out by tugging straight down-it ju... Everyone has their own opinion as to what looks good to them. I personally like the look of dark furniture against light walls. I like the contrast instead of everything blending as it would seem... First - get some under-the-bed storage units: either drawer or pull-out tupperware containers for blankets or out-of season clothes. If you have a closet, add shelves in the back for more storage ... Give the 10 to Bubba. No other answer is needed. They can be rented or purchased for under $100, and if the job is large enough BUY one, or more. I have 2,,, a Porter, and a Milwaukee,,, ... Very unfortunate that the wall was not primed be for the wall paper. Use a garden sprayer (pump up bottle not the little trigger kind) with hot water and fabric softener. Don't' bother ... Get a tv, stereo, dvd player, xbox 360/Wii/PS 3 ect, and speakers and do a cool entertainment center. Have lots of comfortable seating like couches and recliners facing the entertainment center....
