What's the best way to make a child's room also attractive to guests? |
We have infrequent visitors that stay for more than a couple of nights. In these times, I bunk the children together and have an air mattress for the guests to sleep on. I'd like to do something that's more comfortable for the guests, but also can also accommodate my 3 year-old. Any suggestions? Don't use comforters with patterns of little trucks or something on it. Make sure that nothing in the room (like wallpaper or bedspread) has patterns. Try to use solid colors that will be cool for your 3 year old but also accommodating to your guests. Also make sure that the room is completely clean. This plays a major part in impressing your guests. I think little things might make a big difference... Allow the visitors to take over the room temporarily. You can use this opportunity to have a camping night! Set up a tent or make your own out of blankets. you can bond with your children by reading stories with a flashlight and roasting marshmallows on the stove. It will make your child exited about having visitors. Really great bedding goes a long way toward making your guests comfortable, because the most time they will spend in your daughter's room is when they are sleeping. Make that your focus and you can't go wrong. Here's a website that features truly luxurious, comfortable bedding: We make sure that there is a bed and everything the guests need. Other then that the room is spottless and ready. Anyone should agree that the guest should be greatful just to be there. It is your child's room. If they complain give them the numbers to the local hotels. I'd say give it some fun color like blue's purples. but not to kidsy like buterflies or airplanes. I suggest simple flowers or solid stripes. as for furniture get a fouton or sleeper sofa. then maybe put a simple yet sturdy desk/coffe table kids can use for coloring. I also found a table that is dry erase so kids can decorate it their style then when the guests come you can wipe it down for a plain white table for papers magazines.etc. then for paintings got with flowers or a scene of a child. Try a daybed or futon. Beyond that remember it is your kid's room. It should be comfortable for them. |
