How to build up kitchen cabinets to touch ceiling? |
| keywords: build,kitchen,cabinets,touch,ceiling |
if im reading this right.. We have about 18" of open space above existing kitchen cabinets. We were planning on adding cabinets above our existing cabinets and then crown molding to touch ceiling, however, a few of the existing wall cabinets are 21"w x 12"d and the manufacturer does not make any cabinets that are 15"h x 21"w x 12"d. We are considering putting up a "facade" or fake cabinet box for the areas we cannot install "real" cabinets. We have even considered not adding the extra cabinets (that are the correct size and match) and just put the "fake" box all the way across the top and finish the very top with decorative molding. Has anyone done this or have any other ideas to achieve the look of the cabinets reaching the ceiling? Use the same type of wood with the same stain and make a glass front. You could go all out and use lighting too. Looks great and usable with glass doors. They have different designs on the glass. Classy too. |
