My toilet is backing up an overflowing onto the floor,whats wrong & how can i fix it myself?

Its a Koehler toilet or Koeher,and when i flush it it overflows everywhere, and even plunging it barely makes it go down slowly. Help what can I do my self?

hey sweetie i just look online to help you with your question. I found a site that actually gives you some tips with your problem. My advice would be if this doesnt help i would hire a plumber i know they can be expensive but in a situation like this it might be for the best

You are assuming that the toilet is plugged (it probably is the culprit), but see if the sinks or bath drain slowly, if not, Just keep plunging, unless you want to take the toilet apart.

try a different plunger and some dran-o , or something like it. probley just a clog- you might want to try closing off the other open drains in the area like the sink or bathtub- it will help the suction go straight towards the clog in the line rather than back the air up through the other fixtures. also try plunging while the toilet is in the process of flushing. throw a gallon of bleach in and let sit overnight- its cheap and cant hurt- and breaks up hair clogs great. you can even lift the toilet by removing the bolts and just move it (empty tank first) if maybe something large fell in you will see it immediately, but that will involve a stinky situation- and a new johnny ring for a couple of bucks. those are the cheap ways- if all else fails- call mr router. good luck

If the plunger doesn't work, then you can try a snake. If you don't have one, then you can rent a power snake. That should get it. If it doesn't then you will have to turn to professonal help. good luck.

there is something in it stopping it up. Remove the toilet from the floor with the bolts that screw into the floor.then snake the drain if that is clear replace the toilet they are not as expensive as you think. once you remove the toilet you will most likely need a wax ring.Thats the seal for the toilet an the floor.Clean out the old wax an put the new ring to replace
it.

Some toy or item has fallen into the toilet and stuck in the lower drain of the toilet. If you can't unstopper it, try a snake. If that doesn't work, unbolt the bolt on each side, cut off and disconnect the water supply, drain the water......then lift the toilet off the floor. Lay it on it's side and push the snake in from the bottom side. I'll bet that that pushes out whatever is plugging it up.

If your other sinks and toilets are draining ok, the problem IS in that clogging toilet....NOT the main drain line.

Have a new wax ring to put it back in order.

Sounds like you have a clog sewer line. You could try a "snake" but no guarantees.

You will in the end probably have to call a pro to roto-route your sewer pipes.

If you have lots of trees outside your home then the roots have more than likely grown into the lines....looking for any water that they can get.

if its at the rim....don't flush it again.
i would just keep plunging it. it will go down eventually.
if you want to get in there good though try sticking your hand there...just kidding.

I'm no plumber, but I can tell you this. If your toilet has a clog that doesn't relent with plunging, you probably have a really bad back up. You could try a closet snake or drain snake- which is a coil like thing that you snake into the drain to try to clear it of a clog. I would try that, and if it doesn't work, call the plumber.

First turn off the H20 behind the toilet down below near floor. Clean up slop off the floor. Then turn back on the h20 grab good plunger (not one that will invert upwards after one plunge=cheap!) start plunging. Wiggle the handle. Also lift up the top flat part to the inside of toilet make sure the round suction ball thing is down not trapped on the chain or anything else! (mine does this all of the time) also while in there the pull down arm thing make sure the h20 is filling back up not just running out see reason before! The toilet will eventually go down. Next time don't put so much toilet paper in it (the cheap toilets will only hold about 2-3 small pieces not large wads of paper! flush much frequently if this is the case!) when in doubt call a damn good plumber!
