What fixings should i use to fix a bracket to a thermalite block wall?

I have put up a bracket for a punchbag with number 10 screws, 2 1/2" long but it has fallen off the wall....i only put it up this morning!!!
The bracket has 4 screw holes. The blocks are very soft and because of this i don't know what fixings to use.
Any help will be gratefully received!

I dont think the weight of the bag can be supported by this kind of wall.A mirror or a framed picture would be just about the limit.Even if you could use bolts and nuts on the other side,you would probably bring the actuall block down and create a hole on the wall.You need an external wall to hang your punch bag,I think !

With the weight of the bag and the stress you will put on it with hitting it the light thermolit block will not be able to support it, are you able to make a bracket and hang it from the ceiling, this means you can use coach bolts/screws and screw it into the rafters.

If you have access to the back of the wall, then putting a plate on the back of a length of threaded bar would do it. (nut and washer on the front...)

A good piece of timber on the back would also do it.

You could try fixing a piece of say 3x2 to the wall. Then fix the punch ball to this.

I would suggest using some form of epoxy resin to secure fixings from the batten. However as said before it might just be too heavy.
