What is the best way to block the view into my yard from an alley?

We are renting a home and I want to add something to our backyard block wall to block the view of strangers walking in the alley. I can't make any PERMANENT additions though.

Go to Pier-1 Imports and get some bamboo screening. Its cheap and lasts a few years.

lattice is a great idea. I personally ilke Morning Glories. But if you don't have a "green thumb" try Bamboo stick fencing. lot of people HERE (mil. housing) use it. it looks nice when you going for a TROPICAL look. or try tied/anchorred umbrellas; for creativity.

a clothes-line!

Save your money and buy your own house.

Move , I can't make any renovations either , ask your landlord mines a A -Hole

string a cable across the back and hang a canvas drape from it

you can purchase vinyl fencing that can be pulled up when you move.you just have to dig a few post holes.thats the easiest fencing i know of. you can buy wooden fence but it is heavy and would be difficult to remove sice you have to nail the planks to the header.all fencing material is 6 and 8 foot tall so tht would give you the privacy you want.

Deanaj2 has a good response. Lattices are pretty cheap at a home and garden store. Find a nice fast-growing vine like akebia or morning glory, put some in pots along the yard, train them up onto the lattice.

Some bamboo in large pots, they grow fast

lattice with some greenery on it

Have you ever walked past a construction site and they put up temporary fencing with steel posts set in concrete. Then they but this nylon type fabric up that looks a bit like shade cloth but you can't see though it but it allows the breeze through. You could do somthing like that.

If you already have a fence but it just a matter of covering the fence so its not see though, this will do the job and its cheap to buy and very easy to put up and take down, know special tools required

ask your land owner if you can plant any thing b/c hybrid trees grow very fast plus provide shade that will help keep things cooler.i think they grow about 18 to 20 feet hight.
