What is the best remedy for killing grass in a driveway?

What is the easiest, most economical way to kill grass that keeps popping up in our stone driveway?

rock salt or water softener salt works great.

white vinegar on a sunny day. Vinegar breaks down harmlessly and no residual pesticides are left in the environment.

Sprinkle salt; then spray with vinegar;
It takes a week or so but it does work.
You can get salt in 40# bags at Sams; and get the vinegar at the dollar store.

Boil a sauce pan of water, pour directly over the plant. Instant stewed greens. Kills the leaf, crown and root. Doesn't contaminate the ground or stain the drive way.

Just did that one hour ago, but illegal. Find a farmer who has a herbicide used on crops. Usually takes one ounce per gallon of water. It will kill anything, including you, if you get it on your skin. Or you can do it the legal way and hire someone with a license and they can kill any type of grass or weeds.

Sodium Chlorate :
Sold @ most Garden & Hardware suppliers,
Approx 拢1.50 [Has to Be Diluted as per Instructions] apply as & when required. Mix in watering can [A good wash out after use].It gets in the places thats so annoying.
PS. Dont get it near the plants that you are fond of.
Happy Driveways!

i will us fule it will kill easy and fast my dad did it to and it work good 1 year still no grass

I use a weed killler called RoundUp. You can spray it exactly where you want it. It works fine but is a little slow acting. Also pulling it out by the roots works but it will come back.

you can spray bleach or vinigar on it

Just go to a garden shop and get a grass killer they recommend, they will steer you right.

make sure there's no witnesses then run it over

Stone driveway? Is that gravel or what?

In any case, the following method is so simple that I found it too easy!!!

Remove the (stones - gravel) enough to expose the grass roots around the problem areas.

Pour kerosene, fuel oil, or even diesel oil onto the bare ground, and when somewhat soaked in, replace the (gravel - stones) so as to not get the oil on them where visible. Tamp down the (stones - gravel) enough so as they will not turn over when stepped, driven on. If need be, you can always replace the stones later.

You will not have grass (or weeds sprouting up where you put the oil) showing up so it may be beneficial to do all areas of concern.

PS: Ever had a problem with ants?
Well just plant Marigolds around the house and Lo and Behold, NO MORE ANTS.
;-)

You could use a salt solution providing the runoff won't effect any other vegetation. Salt will kill it for sure.

Hi...go to Lowes and go to the garden department and get some grass killer....if there is not alot of areas than you can use gasoline it does work really well BUT it is not very environmental and does not smell great...it is never ending with a stone driveway.....
