Is it possible to make cabriole style legs with a 12" benchtop bandsaw? |
I'm making a set of tables with cabriole legs and don't have a shaper. Yes! Determine the height of the legs and make your own pattern of paper stuck on scrap plywood. Use 1 inch squares to determine the shape. Transfer the shape to the face side and face edge of the planed timber. use your band saw to cut from both sides (one at a time of course) Thereafter use a fine rasp to remove saw marks and shape the foot, it doesn't have to be Ball & Claw. Some wood working magazines will often show how this is done. It is NOT a difficult process. Good Luck. |
