What is the best paint to use when painting wood paneling?

my whole room is wood paneling and i'm sick of it. i want to know if and how i can change the look of the paneling with out removing it. i want to paint in bright colors. what brand of type of paint is the best for this use?

There is actually a type of paint on the market that's intended for paneling. Regular paint won't adhere to the slick surface of paneling. Also, many types of primers will also establish a good surface for a finish coat of paint as well

good luck

With all due respect, and understanding your Q; "BEST" is a relative word, and here we all have opinions.

Certainly you'll get answers that say PRIME first; and that might be a good start. The BRAND choice is nebulous.

Clean the paneling first; Prime with even an Oil based primer such as KILZ or ZINSER, which both accept Latex, after, and choose your colors.

Steven Wolf

wash walls with TSP, aka trisodium phosphate.
Then BINZ or Zinnser primer, for bright or dark colors
tint your primer

PRIMER-BONDING SEALING-SHERMAN WILLIAMS
THEN PAINT
