How do you make your own luminaria?

I have decided that since we're having an outdoor evening wedding, we would like to have luminaria around the outside of the tent. Just wondering if there is an easy way to make these, and where exactly one might find white paper bags.

Try a craft store for luminaria bags. Also some party supply places might have them, I got some with pretty designs cut out in the front of the bags at a party store here. If there is a paper company in your area, you might be able to buy them in quantity. Look in your phone book for paper bags, they sell them to grocery stores, etc. You might also be able to get white paper in 3-4' wide rolls for your tables.

Any craft store should have white bags. Fill the bottom of bags w/ sand and place a tea light candle in the sand.

Buy some colored paper bags. Put a handful of pebbles in the bottom for weight. Sit a small tea-light candle in the bottom. carefully light.

The nicest ones I've ever seen were made from jelly jars. The guy put a thin translucent paper around the outside. The paper had snowflake like designs on it. He put about an inch of sand in the bottom of the jar, and then a tea candle. There were hundreds of them around the pool area. I looked very cool. This was also at a wedding. I think I can dig up some pictures if you want to see how it looked. IM or email me.
