How do I fix severe fading on my coffee table?

My dark brown/black wood coffee table has gotten a very pale irregular looking mark that looks like the wood has been bleached or something. It's not something that seems to wash off, so I don't know what to do to fix it. Do I have to stain the table top? Are there any other options for correcting it? It's too large for a furniture marker and those done seem to work too well anyway.

Take it out of the sunlight if you can and refinish it. It's not a big deal, just remove the finish with a sander (fine sandpaper) and refinishing is as easy as wiping on a new finish. It's easy!

Easiest way - pony up the $ for a new coffee table.

Go to the market and look for OLD ENGLISH wood polish. This is not a spray it is a liquid. Find the one that is closest to the table's wood color. The problem you have sounds more like a water stain not bleach. Try this excellent product first before you go to the extreme of refinishing the table. Do not use any other cleaner on the table until you try this.

If it is a water stain rub some mayonnaise on it. It sounds crazy, but my wife does it whenever we get a water stain on one of our wood tables, and it works.

For one thing, sunlight is doing the damage...
It is the enemy of dark wood stains and fabrics...and some wood, like cherry, will naturally darken quite a bit when exposed to sunlight...
Try wiping with mayo (yes, mayo) or vegetable oil...if this does not work, refinishing may be your only choice...

You have several options...
1- sand it, stain it and topcoat it
or 2- Get creative and add more stains and create a fun design with stain markers...see more on how to use stain markers to create fun decorative home decor projects....visit this make -it yourself project link below...
