How do I connect a second story electrical outlet through the attic?

I have a second story outlet that is not connected in the attic. The outlet is finished in the bedroom, but it was not connected to anything in the attic. I want to connect it to the electrical system. How do I do that? Could you refer me to a DIY website? I have basic electrical skills.

I'd just go up in thr attic and see where it was disconected. If it is a finished outlet it was probably used in the past.Question to ask is why was it disconected?? As far as wireing just like to like(bl-bl;wt-wt;gn-gn)http://www.electrical-online.com/wiringd...

first, make sure there isn't an unconnected line in the wall that was just never connected. second, are the other outlets in the room supplied from attic? if, not, then it was probably wired from the first floor.
to run down to attic, you will have to drill through the top plates on the wall into the stud bay where the outlet is. fish a romex down to the outlet. connect this wire to an existing circuit in the attic via a junction box. make sure to cut all breakers in area first.
