How can I build the lightest tower with a platform that holds the most weight, with the following materials? |
I need some tips. The tower has to be about 75cm tall and 30cm long and 30cm wide. It needs to be as light as possible btu be able to hold a lot of weight. I have some tools (ie. knife, glue gun, scotcch tape, ruler, paper, scissors, etc.) and I also have wood, foam, straws, and fishing line. spaceframe. like the answer above, tubes are strong, but if you make the whole structure as a spaceframe it will be strong and light. If you don't know what a spaceframe is, look at how the big cranes on building sites are constructed. a triangle is a very rigid shape, thats how the spaceframe is so strong. one of the strongest and simplest forms for strength is a tube or similar IE a polygon.pentagon.hexagon,dectagon etc. |
