What type of wood chipper would I need to get shavings? How big?

I live on a farm where there are quite a few tree tops left overs from a logging operation that the previous owner did. What type of wood chipper would I need to make shavings? We have horses and thought it would be a great cost saving idea since shavings are so high? Is it feasiable?

Hard to answer thoroughly.
All chippers can get shavings just depends on how it is flowing through the infeed and the total amount of blades on cutter wheel.
As for how big depends on the largest size limb you will feed into chipper.
They can cost upwards of $20,000 so dependent on your usage will be the outcome of the feasibility.

try renting one. a hell of a lot cheaper tthen buying. if thery are just tree tops , i'd say get a 6 to a ten incher. depending on how big your tops are. just watch your fingers!
