What's the difference between cement and concrete?

What's the difference between cement and concrete?

Cement (notably Portland cement) is the material to make concrete.

Concrete is a mixture of cement, sand, and (if required for the application) aggregate (usually gravel)

Cement and concrete are acceptably used to mean concrete.......but the above is the correct definition..

thank you for asking that question. It never fails while I am working some guy comes up and asks how much ceeeement are you pouring today.I usually just smile and say oh we've got 7 yards on the way.Inside i'm thinking cement is what you put in concrete. It just gets old.Another good one is can I write my name in it or can I walk on that. I could go on and on.Sorry just venting a little bit.

Cement is cooked! And is a component of concrete.

Give David the 10 points he is correct. Concrete is 1 part Portland cement, 2 parts sand, 3 parts rock.
Did you ever wonder why the concrete trucks rotate the load as they go down the road. It's because if you don't keep agitating the load the rocks and sand settle out and sticks so hard to the bottom you can't get it out!

Mortar for brick and blocks is one part Portland cement and 2 to 3 parts sand and no rocks.
