Why would the pex pipe melt and split coming off of a wood furnace?

For you idiots that keep answering like I'm stupid or something -- your dumb! It's not even something that happened to me, it happened to someone down the street. I found out he kept the temp. at around 200 on his wood boiler.

Like I said before you deleted your previous question and rephrased it so it would sound "better?". Plastic melts when it gets hot and the furnace gets very hot! It's like putting a lit candle under a paper towel!!!

Pex is not rated for temperatures that high. The water temp to them is usually kept below 160.

pex pipe is plastic and wood furnace is hot?

It melts. It's plastic. It burns. Pex pipe shouldn't be anywhere near a wood furnace. I seriously hope you are joking. If not you have a serious safety hazard.

I will propose your name for a Darwin Award
- First Class, at the next committee meeting.
Keep messing with amateur furnace flue
design at your level of competence, and you'll
soon be eligible.
