Sewing Room I am decorating a sewing room and would like some advice and pointers?

to get the most space for my room. Some tips on storage and decorating and organizing. Thanks!

tons of light both overhead as well as task lighting.

Cupboards on one wall with a deep kind of ike kitchen cabinets. Than build glassed in shelves on top of that to the ceilling.

Drop down table affixed to a wall that is large enough to hold the super sized cutting mats.

In the area you put your sewing machines and sergers, have your ironing board nearby. At Home Depot, you can buy outlet stips that have about a dozen outlets in them. make sure you install one of those on that wall.

Need a craft table n there as well. Floor outlets are nice as they keep the cords out of the way there.

Need a stereo with speakers mounted up in the corners. I also like to have an area that i can keep a tea cup.

A friend of mine has a little coffee orner in hers that is neat if you sew a lot. She has one of those water coolers that has a hot spout and a cold spout. there is storage underneath that she keeps tea bags, and different instant coffees in so she can hide out.

An oversized mirror on the door is great and if you can angle mirrors near there or have a floor stand type of mirror, you can see the back of a garment.

You will need a rack over or near your ironing board for hangers and to hold the startch and pressing cloth.

In the cupboards, use the transparent crates to see what you have in them. On some shelves i have on the wall, I have a coupe of rows of the shoebox sized ones and have labeled them. One has hanks of elastic, zippers, needles, cord stps, lace, leash and collar supplies, cias tape in a couple. There is also one for each of my machines. In the machine ones, is all of the accessories and the manual for the machine. I have one that has spare scissors.

Hope this helps! Oh yes! Than you need a few of the transparent crates to put upcoming prjcets in that are like sweater sized. This way you can put the fabric, pattern, thread, zippers, etc, that go with a project.

good luck organizing! It is fun setting up a sewin room! Make sure it is comfortable. Oh, a good chair to set a spell in. sometimes i just sit and relax a minute and sometimes my daughter comes back to sit and chat.

Enjoy that room! Remember, if you put things in what turns out to be ther wrong place, you just move them to another!

if there are windows , i would put the sewing mechine in front of the window and have the stuff along one wall , as for color i would do it a summer type of color like a peach or a orange or a yellow so think of what color you want to see every day and then go from there

I have the same problem
